Prestigious Rose d’Or Awards come to London’s Kings Place
The 2019 Rose d’Or Awards gala ceremony will take place on Sunday December 1, ahead of C21’s agenda-setting four-day Content London conference also held at Kings Place as the global content business descends on the capital.
The prestigious Rose d’Or Awards will be hosted by Lenny Henry and define the gold standard for excellence and achievement in entertainment programming. The 400-person event will take place in the our Hall One space with an arrival reception and after party following the ceremony.
One of the highlights of the awards ceremony is the ‘Performance of the Year Award’ which this year, will be given to Ricky Gervais for his ground-breaking performance as Tony in After Life, the Netflix series which he also writes and directs. The award is given annually to a television star who has made an outstanding contribution in the past 12 months.
The awards were first given out in 1961 in Montreux, Switzerland, where the annual award ceremony remained for 40 years. Berlin has been home to the Rose d’Or for the past three years. Recent winners include The Crown, Gogglebox and The Graham Norton Show. Past recipients of Rose d’Or Special Awards include Joanna Lumley, Angela Lansbury, James Corden, Jan Böhmermann and John Cleese. C21 have taken control of the awards, with current owner, the EBU, remaining a key stakeholder and partner.
The Rose d’Or Awards take place two days ahead of Content London, which features an unrivalled conference programme with over 250 speakers across more than 50 sessions. From commissioners, producers, financiers, technologists, agents, writers, and other key players in the value chain, delivering the most compelling line-up to ensure delegates stay on top of trends that shape the business. The International Drama Summit has become the most significant gathering of the global drama business, supported by significant presence from the kids, future media and factual entertainment communities.
